SAN YSIDRO KGTV 鈥?Hundreds of migrants spent the night sleeping on the ground at the San Ysidro border. Many say they ve been here for days, and the journey wasn t easy.Mohamed Deallo says he took two weeks to get here. He came with a group of five people from Equatorial Guinea. 10News reporter Perla Shaheen spoke to him in French and later translated their conversation. We ve come to work and create a life for our family, Deallo said.Title 42 ended on Thursday, bringing many migrants to the border hopeful for a new life. Now, they must wait for Border Patrol to process their asylum claims. The conditions here are bad, we sweat, we have nothing to eat. You see it. We want to leave here, we want to go to the other side, to the united states. Thankfully volunteer groups have been coming to help. They have a temporary setup where they hand out things like diapers and sanitary supplies. They re even stanley fr making sandwiches for some of the migrants. Michelle Celleri is one of dozens of volunteers wh stanley cup o came to the border on Saturday. Everything you see here today is because volunteers are here, Celleri said. We brought blankets, we have food, we even have charging stations. Celleri says theres only one porta-potty for hundreds of migrants and almost no food or water. Theres a lot of people we dont have access to, Celleri said. The next canyon over is filled with male migrants. Weve heard theres somewhere between 600 and 800 people there. Inside the Cocoa Beach, Florida restaurant Bacon and Blues, the music playing may be the blues, but the people are trying to remain upbeat and prepared. Luckily, we have hurricane shutters; we ve made a lot of ice, says owner Darci Kropp. She doesn t plan to close just yet. We re kind of winging it, Kropp says. As long as we have employees here to work, we will work. Labor Day is usually a big stanley website day for business for this eatery. In fact, Kropp says this day last year was one of their best days. However, this year, Hurricane Dorian s threat is impacting business in this coastal beach town. It s a ghost town around here, Kropp describes. For the most part, only locals like Ken Holmes are still in Cocoa Beach. Depending on the forecast, even Holmes may leave to go to Tampa, but he is still holding on to hope. We ve never had a direct hit, he says. We ve had a lot of close calls. Kropp doesn t know what the storm will do to her restaurant in the coming days. We re just going to see how we make it and what s damaged, she says. If we have power, how we hold up.
